Due to their convenience and superior customer services, private jet charters are becoming an increasingly popular option for those who don’t want to deal with the stress of commercial airlines. Recently, the associated costs of parking and storage, transportation, and baggage checks have increased, making commercial travel a poor investment. By using the following tips, you can make charter flights a more convenient, luxurious, and affordable option.
- Consider an “Empty Leg” Flight.
When people charter a private jet, it is frequently for a one-way trip to their destination. The jet must still make the return flight without passengers, known as an “empty leg” flight. By shopping around for these flights, you can easily save up to 20 percent or more off of the regular ticket price.
- Meet the Passenger Quota.
Light charter jets come in several sizes that provide seating arrangements that range from supporting two to over a dozen people. If you travel for business frequently, then you may want to consider filling up the cabin to save on private air charter costs. Additionally, consider using the same private air charter company each time to build a rapport; companies often extend benefits to loyal customers.
If you own a corporate aircraft whose peak usage is limited, then you may want to consider having an aircraft management company charter it out to significantly reduce, or even recoup, the costs of your own flights.

For more than 50 years, the Learjet brand has been the epitome of corporate air travel. Due to its streamlined design and powerful capabilities, the Learjet 31A continues to be one of the most popular choices for private travel. Currently a subsidiary marque of Canadian-owned Bombardier Aerospace, the Learjet brand has changed remarkably little over several decades of service in the private air charter industry—this is because their design simply works. The following is an in-depth look at the Learjet 31A and how it can meet all of your private air charter needs:
The 31A model replaced the Learjet 31 with a variety of improvements in the flight deck and landing gear, and an extended range 31A/ER model soon followed. Production of the 31A stopped in 2003, and although other types of Learjets are now available, it remains a popular choice for private air travel due to its low operating costs and available modifications for increased storage and performance.
The Learjet 31A has enough space for up to seven passengers and two pilots. Raisbeck Engineering offers a storage locker modification allowing the Learjet 31A to hold up to 300 lbs. of baggage without suffering any losses in performance.
The Learjet 31A has an estimated maximum range of 2,695 km and is able to reach its initial cruise altitude in just under twenty minutes. A ZR LITE Performance Improvement Package is available from Raisbeck Engineering which reduces drag on the 31A and effectively increases its range, speed, and altitude tolerance.
With more than 25 years of experience in the private air management industry, Million Air Dallas is here to provide you with the best aircraft charter, acquisition, and maintenance services nationwide; we service several cities, including Dallas, Ft. Worth, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Call (972) 248-1600 or contact us online for more information about our services. Acrobatic pilot Jan Collmer will cut a ribbon stretched across the runway with his brightly painted Extra 300 aircraft to officially open the newly renovated runway at Addison Airport! The major runway reconstruction project provided a new layer of asphalt and portions of the runway were reconstructed down to its base. In addition to the renovated runway, improvements were also made to the approach and airport lighting, drainage and grading along the airport's 7,200 foot runway.
